Client: Thomas Mollicone Park

Location: Detroit, MI

Mollicone Park is located at the Southwest corner of Burns and Goethe on Detroit’s Eastside, situated in one of Detroit’s historic neighborhoods. The park, which was named for World War II hero, Thomas Mollicone, was once a place where area families came together. The Mollicone Park Committee’s mission was to raise $200,000 to reactivate the space. By adding a quarter mile walking path, benches, tables, a play space and more, this historic park will once again become a community gathering space for neighbors in the Villages and beyond.

The Mollicone Park Committee working with the city of Detroit Landscape Architects had a vision to create a Natural Space, with Natural products that would not only blend, but enhance the natural beauty of the park. Every piece of equipment selected came from Kompan’s Organic Robinia line. The pieces were chosen to include as many play elements from spinning to climbing that fit the designed area.
