The community of Lima, Ohio required an inclusive playground that could serve not only those with physical limitations, but excite and captivate children of all abilities and age levels.

We used our PCM 2-5 ramp structure, 5-12 Edge Crest Urban and Corocord Arch Tunnel to ensure a variety of play opportunities to stimulate skill development. This playground provides play value in Kompan’s four competencies; Physical, Creative, Cognitive and Social Play.

It was especially important to incorporate spinning equipment, as motion plays a vital role in the development of childrens’ vertibular systems, which improves physical stability. We included the Tipi Carousel and Supernova to provide the thrill of spinning with low entry points to encourage inclusive play.

Typically the main issue for people with physical challenge is not the equipment itself but the accessibility to the playground. We addressed the access to the play equipment with ForeverLawn’s Playground Grass Extreme. The playground turf offers low roll resistance for mobility devices and excellent fall protection. Low maintenance cost and excellent durability made playground turf the right solution for this project.
